Despite the challenges and extent of damage caused by Typhoon Nina, NGCP is working non-stop, through Christmas Day and New Year's Day, to restore all affected lines in South Luzon and Bicol regions. Camarines Sur experienced the most extensive damage. Other areas affected include Albay, Quezon, Sorsogon, and Batangas. The grid operator has deployed around 500 personnel working around the clock to speed up the restoration of 672 structures damaged by the typhoon, including 34 toppled towers that are part of the Naga-Daraga-Tiwi 230kV backbone line.
NGCP facilities in Albay and Sorsogon, serviced by Daraga substation, sustained minimal damage, and loss of power in the province is temporary as restoration of lines in Camarines Sur is ongoing.
