VISAYAS POWER RESTORATION UPDATE AS OF 5PM, 21 JULY 2017

Date Published: 7/21/2017 5:00:00 PM

NGCP continues its Visayas restoration efforts for facilities affected by the July 6 earthquake.

As of July 21, NGCP has confirmed that Ormoc 150MVA Transformer 2 and 150MVA Transformer 6 have sustained internal damage. NGCP is in close coordination with its supplier for possible repair or replacement of the units.

The two transformers from Compostela, Cebu arrived in Ormoc Substation last July 20, and are undergoing preparatory works for the assembly, testing, and commissioning of the transformers. The 150MVA transformer will replace the damaged Transformer 2 in Ormoc Substation and the 100MVA transformer will be used as a spare at the Babatngon Substation. Once energized, the 150MVA transformer will increase the substationís capacity to receive and transmit power to distribution utilities in Leyte, Samar, Biliran, and Bohol.

Other parallel strategies, particularly the reconfiguration of 230kV to 138kV lines, are ready for implementation.
